Urge Thing

A mum has been forced to defend herself after she shared a photo of her kids’ lunch online.

The woman threw together a meal consisting of pasta shells and tinned peaches for her children who needed a quick lunch in between their classes.

She shared a snap of the dish on the Facebook group Feed Your Family on a Budget in the hopes of giving fellow parents inspiration for meals that would give them a break from homeschooling.

The anonymous mum wrote: “Lazy lunch for the kids before they get back on computers for school.”

While a number of group members praised her for sharing the relatable lunch, a few people commented on how plain it was, and gave her suggestions on how to “bulk it out.”

One said: “This looks like plain boiled pasta shells and tinned peaches, I never would consider eating them like this, not in the slightest bit appealing, but each to their own.”

Another suggested: “Tomato sauce too of course it’s pennies, quick and filling, could always add a few peas and sweet corn too or some more salad bits.”

But a few people were quick to defend her as one said: “It’s ‘feed your family on a budget’. Pasta and tinned fruit are about as budget as it gets. People be expecting cordon bleu on this group,” reported The Sun.

While someone else pointed out that the poster did say it was a “lazy” lunch and to give her a break.

She later responded to “negative and judgmental” comments saying that her kids are healthy and fed well, even if they eat frozen meals or tinned fruit from time to time.
